To Focus on Jaron Lanier

To Focus Past Jaron Lanier

Posted in Manifesto by tofocusonjaronlanier on May 10, 2010

Unfortunately, I can’t focus on one subject forever, especially if it’s a human not of myself. Therefore, I’d like to declare my intentions to attempt to start a personal blog and transport everything from here to that blog. I cannot guarantee when or where I will do this, but hopefully once classes let out, I’ll have some time.

So, a blog on a guy– Who the hell is he?

Good question, me!

Jaron Lanier is an American computer scientist, digital artist, composer, and author. He’s highly associated with the term “Virtual Reality” and the arts and sciences related to it. He has written a book, “You Are Not a Gadget,” which will be one of the prime sources for this blog.

His website is at http://www.jaronlanier.com/

And a wikipedia page for him can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaron_Lanier

Research

When researching, if a direct source is available, use it, right?

Tonight, I have placed an order with Amazon.com for Jaron Lanier’s book,

You are Not a Gadget: A Manifesto.

It should arrive in a week.

The Purpose

Posted in Manifesto by tofocusonjaronlanier on March 9, 2010

The purpose of this blog is to investigate, understand, and familiarize the author and additional viewers with the Individual known as Jaron Lanier. This blog is part of a term project for a 4000-level Art History class at Louisiana State University, and should not immediately be seen as a reliable source, nor having direct contact or representation with the Artist.
